When we want to ask where someone comes from, we can say:

 

Where are you from?                                               – I am from Madrid, Spain.
What country are you from?                                    – I am from Spain.
What city are you from?                                          – I am from Madrid.

Where is Madrid?                                                     -Madrid is in Spain. = It’s in Spain.

 

Where is New York?       Where is Berlin?     Where is London?
